El Salvador’s tourism industry has developed dramatically in recent years with increasing number of North American and European visitors arriving to sample mainly the beaches and nightlife. Some tourists to the former war-torn country are drawn by El Salvador's troubled past, looking to find the likes of guns and uniforms used by the National Liberation Front during the 1980s. The mountain town of Perquin, which was regarded as the guerilla capital, now market a “Museum of the Revolution”, complete with a variety of Soviet weaponry.

The El Salvador Golf Federation was founded in 2005 and looks after the country’s golfing interests across a handful of golf courses in this diminutive country.
