Imports and exports are the essence of the former French colony’s trade and revenue from stationed French and US troops contribute significantly to the country’s income.
Djibouti may be small in size but it does have one golf course at Douda Golf Club. The greens are oiled browns but at least you will be allowed to pick and place your ball on a piece of Astroturf rather than playing from perpetual sand.
We doubt the Royal & Ancient game will ever develop much beyond the facilities of Douda Golf Club but you never know. Perhaps the French will design a Morfontaine-like grass course here at some future point?
