Tourism and agriculture are key industries in Guadeloupe with old sugarcane plantations slowly being replaced by other crops – bananas now provide half of the country’s export earnings.

Currently there's just one golf course to be played in Guadeloupe at St Francois, located near the southeasterly tip of Grande-Terre.
