The Comoros, or the Union of the Comoros as it is officially known, is a tiny island archipelago located off Africa’s eastern coast. The three Indian Ocean islands which form the Comoros – Moheli, Anjouan and the largest island, Grande Comore – could be a heavenly holiday paradise, but lengthy political violence has left the country desperately poor.

Against the backdrop of its diminutive size and poverty, the Comoros cannot afford any golf courses. One day this beautiful country – nicknamed ‘Cloud Coup-Coup’ land because of its multiple coups since gaining independence from France in 1975 – may become a popular holiday destination.
