Barbados

Barbados is the most easterly of the Caribbean islands and despite being a mere dot on the world map it’s got huge character and is known as the 'Little England' of the Caribbean. With its sub-tropical climate and the cooling trade winds, Barbados is about as far away as you can get in terms of climate from the England across the other side of the Atlantic. But when you wander around Bridgetown, the capital, you might just for a moment believe you are in London with the Parliament Buildings, Trafalgar Square and even a statue of Lord Nelson.

In terms of golf, Barbados has some good golf courses with Sandy Lane boasting three layouts. Perhaps the most acclaimed is the Green Monkey, which is reserved for the exclusive use of its guests. In 2006, Barbados became only the second Caribbean country in history to host the World Golf Championships World Cup. The Country Club course at Sandy Lane was the chosen track for this prestigious event and the German team of Bernhard Langer and Marcel Siem claimed the trophy.
