The capital and largest city of Freetown was founded by British settlers in the late 18th century and it’s home today to around a million of Sierra Leone’s population of six million people.

The 18-hole layout at Freetown Golf Club overlooks the Atlantic Ocean at Cockerill Bay, the only one of six golf courses in Sierra Leone from a decade ago that remains intact as the others fell into disrepair during a devastating eleven year-long civil war. The golf club was founded by the British military in 1904, moving to its present Lumley Beach site thirty years later.
