Niue

The island nation of Niue - sometimes called the “Rock of Polynesia” - is an oval-shaped coral atoll extending to around 100 square miles in the South Pacific Ocean. Its small population of around 1500 people are citizens of New Zealand, which is situated around 1500 miles to the south west of the island. Interestingly, although Niue is relatively close to its mother country, the time difference between the two nations is 23 hours in the winter and 24 hours when New Zealand uses Daylight Saving Time.

A basic 9-hole golf course is laid out close to Hanan International Airport in the southwest corner of the island at the Niue Golf & Sports Club (known locally as the “Top Club”) where an honesty box is in operation during the week for the collection of green fees.
