Madagascar

Located off the south east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean, Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world. The country threw off its French colonial shackles in 1960 but unfortunately, after more than half a century of independence, it’s reckoned that more than half of Madagascar’s 22 million people still earn below the national poverty mark of one dollar a day.

As you can imagine, the provision of golf facilities in such an impoverished country is hardly high on the national agenda though there are said to be several 9-hole courses dotted around the island. For sure, the best course is located in the capital of Antananarino, where the fairways at the private International Club du Rova form the only full 18-hole layout in the country.
