Guernsey’s tax haven status has meant that many financial institutions are established here. The traditional trades of flower growing, fishing and dairy farming are the primary drivers of Guernsey's economy but space is at a premium on this small island and therefore golf is not a major part of its attraction for visitors.

Guernsey has only two and a half courses in total – the first is Royal Guernsey course, which is shared by two organisations, Royal Guernsey Golf Club and the L'Ancresse Golf Club. The second is the par 68 La Grande Mare Hotel Golf Course, designed by Fred Hawtree, and finally there's a 9-hole golf course at the St Pierre Park Hotel, designed by former Jersey resident – Tony Jacklin.
