This mountainous country is a spiritual place where many saints and mystics have made the long pilgrimage to bless the Bhutanese people and their land. The Bhutanese treasure their beautiful, natural environment and consequently Bhutan is guarded, with tourism and foreign influences regulated by the government to ensure that their Buddhist culture is preserved. With breathtaking scenery and stunning architecture in the shape of monasteries, chapels and precious Buddhist sites, Bhutan is a place of real magic and humble majesty and we hope it will always stay that way.

Do you need to pack your golf clubs? The short answer is yes. Even His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck plays golf. In fact the King has his own private layout on his property in Punhaka but you’ll naturally need a royal invite to play it. The only golf course open to the public is at Royal Thimphu Golf Club. All other Bhutanese courses are located at military bases. So if you fancy golf on top of the world at serious altitude, remember to take your clubs to Royal Thimphu.
