Established in 1989 as a 27-hole golf facility, Golfclub München Eichenried has since staged more than twenty editions of the BMW International Open on the men’s professional European golf tour.This event is played on a composite course, involving holes from all three nines.
For instance, in 2022, holes 1-9 on the championship layout were holes 1-9 on the “A” nine; holes 10-11, and 14-15 were holes 1, 9, 2 and 8 on the “B” nine; and holes 12-13, 16 and 18 were holes 1-3 and 9 on the “C” nine. The championship #17 is only played when the Open takes place!
In fact there are 34 holes in operation at the club: three loops of nine, a 6-hole short course plus a 34th "Sleeping Beauty" hole, which only becomes active for the Open and during the "Old Course" week. When an 18-hole tournament takes place there are always other holes in play for the members.
