- AddressFive Nations Golf Club, Ferme du grand Scley, 5372 Méan, Belgium
Five Nations Golf Club was formed in the early 1990s and in its first thirty years of operation it had almost as many different international groups of owners as its name suggests due to various bankruptcies and takeovers involving Belgian, Dutch, German and French companies. Located on the northern edge of the Belgian Ardennes region, the course is routed across a very undulating landscape with a good mix of tree-lined holes on the front nine and more open holes on the shorter back nine.
The following edited except is from the Peugeot Golf Guide: “Hilly terrain and sharp differences in altitude make a buggy almost a necessity… on the upside the topography gives a few fine vistas and some spectacular holes like the 2nd and 13th… alongside a number of very open holes, the tightness of some fairways calls for extreme accuracy and obvious game strategy… the pleasure of playing here is enhanced by the excellent clubhouse in an large old farmhouse.”
The layout extends to 6,005 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72 (37 out then 35 in), with holes arranged as two returning nines. Water comes into play at several holes: most notably to the right of the green at the par four 2nd and to the right of the fairways on the par five 15th and the par four 16th. Other highlight holes include the left doglegging par four 4th (rated stroke index 3) and the last (and longest) of the par threes at the 185-metre 17th, where a long, snaking bunker protects the left of the green.

View AllThe Black Knight’s playing record is exceptional, he’s one of only five men to win golf’s career Grand Slam, and since the early 1980s Gary Player Design has also been rather successful.
