Rankings

Situated nine miles north of downtown Atlanta, the original 9-hole course at Ansley Golf Club (named Midtown) was inaugurated in 1912 and it’s still in play today. The club acquired the 18-hole Bob Cupp-designed Settingdown Creek layout just a 40-minute drive further north of the state capital in 1999, so members now have the playing rights to a 27-hole golf facility spread over two locations.

The front nine at Settingdown Creek is routed around Little River, where water obviously comes into play at a number of holes, most notably on the par three 5th and par four 8th, with the green at both holes sitting behind a menacing pond. On the more undulating back nine, stand out holes include par threes at the bunkerless 249-yard 12th and slightly downhill 176-yard 17th.

The course plays to a par of 72 and there are six tee boxes to choose from at every hole. When the back markers are in use for professional events, the layout measures an incredible 7,332 yards and this configuration plays to a rating of 76 with a slope index of 150. The US Women’s Amateur was held here in 2006 when Morgan Pressel lifted the Robert Cox Cup following her 9&8 final victory.
