Any golfer visiting Asunción can rest assured that their pursuit of a game will not be in vain as three of the five 18-hole golf courses in the country lie close to the city centre –and for anybody worried about overstretching their budget, fear not as Asunción has been consistently rated in recent times as one of the least expensive city in the world in which to live.
The Yacht and Golf Club Paraguay could easily be called the Sports Club Paraguay due to the numerous sporting activities held within the club’s estate just south of the capital. Factor in their 5-star hotel, spa and casino and you will understand why it will be only the most committed golfer who will venture out to play golf at either of the other two city courses belonging to Asunción Golf Club or Club Centenario!
Yacht & Golf Club Paraguay operated with a 9-hole course until 1981, when Emilio Serra extended the original layout to eighteen holes. Eight years later, the club hosted the Copas Los Andes, the annual South American Team Championships which is contested by nine national teams over four days, playing foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon. The 64th edition of the event was subsequently staged at the club in 2009.
