- AddressWindhoek Country Club and Resort, 93MF+55V, Windhoek, Namibia
Situated below the Aus Mountains on the southern side of Namibia's capital, the 18-hole course at the exclusive Windhoek Golf and Country Club opened in 1994 and was designed by South African professional Ken Elkin, offering “an alluring haven of greenery to members and visitors alike”.
With enormous sections of the country consisting of harsh desert terrain, the comparatively lush 180-acre estate at Windhoek represents a welcoming oasis for golfers.
The course sits beside a hotel and casino complex (where bowls and tennis are also catered for) and it's laid out in two returning 9-hole circuits, extending to just under 7,000 yards from the back tees and is a regular stop on the Sunshine Tour.
A feature hole on the outward half is the par three 3rd which has water at the back of the green to catch over hit tee shots. The inward half starts with back-to-back par fives and concludes with a demanding par four, the longest on the scorecard.
