The design duo of William Langford is known for several designs in Wisconsin, namely at Lawsonia, but rare is it that he is noted as a renovation wizard. The original designer at Westmoor has been lost to the ages, so this historic architect's touches during the mid-’50s have made him somewhat the architect of record at the property.
His work certainly did not make the course easy. One thing that the Wisconsin State Open Championship and the U.S. Open at Cherry Hills have in common was the result: Andy North won with a score above par. Winding fairways and well-placed bunkers, and a series of small ponds around the property are the challenges faced during such competitions. Hole names such as “Dragon’s Tail” indicate just how much fire it might breathe.
