Opened at the end of 2013, Wellington Country Club lies just over an hour’s drive away from the capital, near the city of Icheon. It’s an ultra-private golf facility so don’t bother to look for its website as there isn’t one.
Twin eagles adorn the club’s motif, symbolising the exclusivity of this VIP club, and its elite membership is drawn from the great and the good of Korean society, with a sprinkling of wealthy celebrities to no doubt enhance the clubhouse ambience.
Built by the Hyosung Group, one of Korea’s largest industrial conglomerates, the first two 9-hole circuits at Wellington are named after the Greek mythological creatures of the Griffin and the Phoenix.
A third nine, named Wyvern, opened in 2017 and it's this dragon-headed, winged, reptilian loop that joins forces with the Griffin nine to form the premier 18-hole configuration at Wellington Country Club..
