Golfers traveling to the popular Puerto Rican tourist town of Dorado can expect to play top-flight golf at each and every one of the resort courses located at this part of the island.

Foremost of these 18-hole layouts are the East and West courses at the newly (2015) rebranded TPC Dorado Beach, originally carved out of coconut and grapefruit plantations in the late 1950s by Robert Trent Jones.

In more recent times, Raymond Floyd’s design company undertook a major modification program that saw the West course completely overhauled before it reopened in 2003 with new tees, revamped greens and upgraded fairway and greenside bunkers.

The West may lack the seaside aspect of the slightly longer East but it’s a fine test in its own right with a number of outstanding holes laid out in some tight turns around a lagoon, along with a very good quartet of par threes.

The West course is currently closed (2020) and it's unknown as to whether or not it will reopen.
