Many of the fairways on the TPC Craig Ranch course are routed around Rowlett Creek, which wanders through a long, narrow plot of land. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, this private facility first opened for golfing action in 2004.
The following edited extract is taken from Daniel Wexler’s The American Private Golf Club Guide:
“Given Weiskopf’s generally high strategic standard, there aren’t as many first-class holes here as one might expect, but there is plenty of muscle, with seven par fours exceeding 450 yards, five of them on the back nine.
The outward half’s standout is a three-shotter, the 564-yard 9th, which requires both drive and approach to cross Rowlett’s Creek. The back nine then kicks off with four monster par fours, with the 12th requiring a long second over the creek and the 13th a drive to a semi-split fairway.
Not quite among either Weiskopf’s or the TPC elite, but still pretty good – and definitely not easy.”
