Tot Hill Farm

The course at Tot Hill Farm Golf Club is a tough-as-nails Mike Strantz creation that wends its way in thrilling style around and over creeks and rock formations.
Tom Doak commented as follows in The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses : “Some people call it ‘Tobacco Road with rocks’ but rocks don’t go nearly as well with golf as sand. Strantz was a master at making a hole appear harder than it actually plays by pinching his fairways in key spots, and that’s well demonstrated here, but the severity of these greens doesn’t engender the same loyal following as Tobacco Road.”
The club’s 2021 cheesy marketing strap line is: “Where Legends Are Made and The Brave Are Rewarded.” The club is also proud of the course’s level of difficulty (slope 138 from the black tips). Playing hard courses is not everyone’s cup of tea and there’s no denying the layout’s toughness, but its hilly nature and its extreme greens do divide opinion.
