Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club is owned and operated by Hyline Berhad, the property and community development branch of the Lion Group, one of Malaysia’s largest corporations, and the 27-hole golf complex is located in the popular Ayer Keroh tourist area, some 90 minutes by road from Kuala Lumpur.

The facility was constructed on an old rubber plantation and former mine with holes laid out in the lower portions of the site to take advantage of some remnant lakes left over from tin mining operations. Many of the mature trees were also left untouched and a number of these were cleverly incorporated into the design as hazards.

The Lake nine at Tiara Melaka was the first to open in 1994 followed a year later by the Meadow loop with the Woodland circuit unveiled a short time after. The estate spans around 400 acres and around a quarter of this area is reserved for housing units, which, thankfully, never intrude on fairway activities here.

As its name suggests, the Lake nine features plenty of water hazards, particularly on the final three holes which present intimidating carries from the tee. And just when you think you might have seen enough water on the outward half of your round, there’s more to be faced on the Meadow nine, where the final two holes are played on either side of a large lake.
