Founded in 1929, Sittingbourne & Milton Regis Golf Club initially operated a 12-hole course that was set out by Henry Hunter, the professional who worked at Royal Cinque Ports for almost half a century. Another six holes were added in 1931 but during World War II they were requisitioned for crop production and were not returned to the club until 1952.
In the early 1990s, work on the A429 road from Sheerness to Maidstone resulted in the loss of 20 acres on the property. An additional 39 acres were acquired to build replacement holes, with Donald Steel given the task of designing seven new holes. The redesigned layout opened for play in July 1993 and the new clubhouse followed three months later.
Today, the layout extends to 6299 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 71. Feature holes include short par fours at the 305-yard 3rd and 338-yard 14th, along with the longest of the par threes at the 208-yard 15th. The par five 18th isn’t a very long finishing hole but it narrows considerably at it bends right towards the offset home green.
