Silkeborg Golf Club is situated in Resenrbro, to the north of Silkeborg, in the part of Denmark known as “the heart of Jutland.” Formed in 1966, the club has gradually improved its woodland course to the current position as one of the finest in the country.

In 2007, a major development was overseen by their most famous golfing son, Thomas Bjorn, when the 18-hole Silkeborg course was extended to a 27-hole facility with the addition of nine new holes to the east of the property.

The old front nine is now known as the Vest (West) course, seven of the old back nine and two new holes (the new 3rd and 4th) form the new Syd (South) course, whilst the old 10th and 11th have been joined by seven new holes on the brand new Øst (East) course.

The 411-yard, par four, 7th hole on the West course is a tough nut to crack. Three cross bunkers in the landing area have to be avoided from an elevated tee before the fairway kinks to the right towards a green that is protected by a tree and a bunker to the front left.

The 540-yard, par five, 8th on the South course (the 17th on the old 18-hole course) is rated by the club as one of the most formidable holes in the country. The drive is played down a chute of trees to a fairway that doglegs right to a putting surface guarded by sand to the front with another two bunkers located greenside.

One of the new holes, the 195-yard par three 5th on the East course is already a firm favourite with the members. A large expanse of water awaits any tee shot played too far to the right whilst a bunker to the front left of the green will punish anything hit too far to that side.

In May 2017 it was announced that Silkeborg Ry Golf Club would host the European Tour's 2018 Made in Denmark tournament, which moved south to Thomas Bjørn's course in the heart of Jutland from Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort. Significantly, this was the last counting competition for the 2018 Ryder Cup, so Captain Bjørn was able to watch his home town event with even greater interest.
