Rudding Park (Hawtree)
Harrogate, England- AddressRudding Ln, Follifoot, Harrogate HG3 1JH, UK
Rudding Park's Hawtree course was designed by the renowned golf architect Martin Hawtree and provides a stern test to handicap. In the heart of this 300-acre estate, the championship course runs through the mature parkland that was originally laid out by the famous landscape designer Humphrey Repton in the 18th century.
The Regency-style country house in the heart of the estate dates back to 1805 and it now serves as a hotel, conference centre and spa, with golfers accommodated in a separate clubhouse next to the course. Rudding Park is also home to the Repton short course, a high quality 6-hole design that features USGA greens and a replica of the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.
The Hawtree course is routed in an old-fashioned out and back fashion, with the front nine leading away from the clubhouse and the back nine returning golfers to where they started. As an option for those who want to play less than a full round, there are another two holes available here and they’re played in a 10-hole loop; holes 1-7, the two extra holes, then finishing at the 3rd, close to the clubhouse.
