Rideau View Country Club was formed in the mid-1950s when a number of prominent businessmen decided to establish a golf facility that would serve the Jewish community in the Ottawa area.
A substantial 200-acre property was acquired and Howard Watson set the task of laying out the original 9-hole course, with Robbie Robinson adding another nine holes soon after.
In more recent times, Ian Andrew has acted as the club’s consulting architect.
The 383-yard 9th is one of the most difficult holes on the course, with a precision tee shot required to avoid three well-positioned fairway traps before an uphill approach shot can be executed.
Two of the final three holes comprise demanding par fives; the 572-yard 16th is a treacherous hole, crossed by a couple of creeks, and the 585-yard 18th is another tough nut to crack, played to the smallest green on the course.
