Quail Hollow - Idaho
Boise, Idaho- Address4720 N 36th St, Boise, ID 83703, USA
The Snake River doesn’t present quite as dramatically in Boise as it does for much of Idaho, so some of the best golf land in the capital city comes from the foothills that peak in nearby Sawtooth National Forest. On the public side of the coin, that includes Quail Hollow Golf Course, a municipal design from the pens of Robert von Hagge and Bruce Hepner.
The course comes in at a relatively short 6,300 yards from its back tees, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have an oversized personality. No. 7 is a very gettable par five (just 490 yards from the back) but its putting surface is guarded by a massive bunker. Craters of The Moon National Monument is another Idaho landmark...perhaps one of those craters got misplaced at Quail Hollow!
No. 18 is the showstopper, however. Players make the final tee shot from great heights, down to the left of a pond. Although the fairway to the right seems in play, this belongs to the No. 5 hole. These two share an enormous boomerang-shaped green, and ending up on the wrong side of the putting surface will be a scorecard disaster.
