Prince of Wales Country Club
Santiago, Región Metropolitana- AddressLas Arañas 1901, Santiago, La Reina, Región Metropolitana, Chile
Prince of Wales Country Club was founded in 1925 in honour of the monarch whose reign as King of the United Kingdom lasted less than a year before he abdicated. The short but tight course has hosted numerous regional and national events including the Web.com Tour’s Chile Classic from 2012-14.
Occupying a compact area of around 110 acres, the course can be extended to 6,904 yards, with par set at 72. Holes are arranged as returning nines, each of which concludes with a par five that plays to a green positioned on either side of a little lake in front of the clubhouse.
Highlights include the first of the par three holes at the 4th in the southeast corner of the property, played to a heavily bunkered green, and the slightly right doglegging par four 8th which might present the best chance of a birdie on the front nine.
On the inward half, the last (and longest) of the par threes at the 15th is a real test measuring more than 220 yards from the back tees, and the left bending 18th is a tough way to end the round, with the home green protected by water to the front right of the putting surface.
