The affluent Port-au-Prince suburb of Pétionville lies in the hills to the south east of the capital and it’s named after national patriot Alexandre Sabès Pétion who was President of the country from 1806 until his death twelve years later.
One of the few wealthy establishments in an impoverished country, the Pétionville Golf and Tennis Club is where diplomats, businessmen and other affluent locals can relax in secure surroundings that often contrast dramatically with other parts of the city.
Lying within a hillside neighbourhood containing many bars, clubs, hotels, and restaurants, the 9-hole golf course at Pétionville is complemented by seven tennis courts, two racquetball courts and a swimming pool.
