Real Novo Sancti Petri (A)
Novo Sancti Petri, Andalusia- Address11130 Novo Sancti Petri, Cádiz, Spain
With three 18-hole courses on a substantial 990-acre residential development, Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club is one of the biggest golf resorts in Spain. The “A” course here, comprising the Sea and Pine Trees 9-hole layouts, was part of an original 27-hole complex that opened in 1990.
Designed by Seve Ballesteros, the front nine are laid out over open, exposed land close to the Atlantic coastline and holes 5 to 7 form a particularly strong trio with the memorable, par four, 6th played to a raised green overlooking the beach.
The back nine are played inland, through avenues of pine trees, so it is generally tighter than the outward half. The 17th hole is the pick of these holes and, with a length of 463 yards, it’s also the longest (and toughest) par four on the scorecard.
The second 18-hole “B” course at Novo Sancti Petri was completed in 2001 and the “C” course at nearby Campano (an original Robert Trent Jones 9-hole affair) was extended to a full 18 hole course in 2007 so golfers are certainly spoiled for choice on where to play in this corner of the Costa de la Luz!
