The small town of Narrendera lies close to the Murrumbridgee River, at the junction of the Newell and Sturt highways, in the Riverina region of New South Wales. The golf course in play today was designed by Alex Russell in 1927 and is located in very pleasant surroundings inside a cypress pine plantation on the northern outskirts of the town.

Extending to 5,752 metres from the back markers and playing to a par of 70, the course occupies an area of around 115 acres, with nearly all the sandy-soiled fairways orientated along a north-south axis (only the par three 5th and short par four 15th are routed in an east-west direction).

Notable holes at Nerrandera include the shortest of the five par threes on the scorecard at the 113-metre 2nd; the slightly left doglegging short par four 15th along the northern perimeter of the property; and the closing par three 18th which returns golfers to the home green in front of the clubhouse.
