Designed by American architect Jim Engh in collaboration with Bernhard Langer, the course at Modena Golf & Country Club hosted the fiftieth edition of the Italian Open in 1993, three years after the layout first opened for play.
There are actually twenty-seven holes on offer here, the 18-hole Bernard Langer Championship course and a 9-hole par three executive course that extends to just under a thousand metres.
Complementing the golf facility, the club has a gymnasium, sauna, swimming pool, tennis courts and a variety of multi-use rooms within the clubhouse to keep members and guests happily occupied when they’re not playing golf.
According to the Peugeot Golf Guide, “this design faithfully hugs the contours of rather flat terrain where trees are not a danger… hazards are basically the bunkers and water hazards, especially on two of the par threes and at the end, on the 18th, where daring may be rewarded or simply ruin your card.”
