Medicine Hat
Medicine Hat, Alberta- Address947 Pigeon St NE, Medicine Hat, AB T1C 1R2, Canada
Host to the Alberta Men’s Amateur Golf Championship in 2020, Medicine Hat Golf & Country Club was formed in 1913 and the Hat moved to its present site north of the Saskatchewan River in 1934 to a tract of land leased from Medicine Hat City. It’s not known who originally fashioned the course, but Les Furber gave the layout a facelift in the mid-1980s.
Today, the course measures 6,695 yards from the tips, playing to a par of 72, with holes laid out as two returning circuits of nine. Water comes into play at several holes, most noticeably to the left of the green on the par four 9th and between the fairways on the par four 13th and par three 14th.
Highlight holes include the right doglegging par four 2nd, played to a green with guard bunkers to the front right and back left of the putting surface, and the last of the par threes at the 148-yard 16th, where the heavily sand-protected green offers little chance of a late birdie.
