McCracken
McCracken, South Australia- AddressUnit 53/10 McCracken Dr, McCracken SA 5211, Australia
Opened for play in the mid-1990s, the course at McCracken Golf Club is a Tony Cashmore design located in Victor Harbor, on the south coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula, around an hour’s drive south of Adelaide.
Laid out as two returning loops on a hilly site, the course is characterised by big, wide fairways and large, heavily-bunkered greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes at the start of the round then again at the start of back nine.
The outward half is configured with three par three, three par four and three par five holes and the same par is never played consecutively until reaching the 12th hole on the inward half. There are five three-shotters in total but none measure more than the 500-metre mark.
Highlight holes include the openers on each nine which run downhill from the clubhouse, finishing on either side of a pond. The uphill par five 4th is another terrific hole, played to a 3-tiered green, and the 18th is one to watch, with sand in front of and water behind the home green.
