- AddressMariagervej 101, 9560 Hadsund, Denmark
With a length of around 35 kilometres, Mariager Fjord is the longest fjord in Jutland and the second longest in Denmark. The small town of Mariager lies on the south side of the fjord (14 kilometres from Hobro at the head of the fjord) and the Mariagerfjord golf facility lies a further ten kilometres east, close to the town of Hadsund on the opposite side.
Designed by Michael Traasdahl Møller and opened for play in 2007, the 18-hole layout at Mariagersfjord Golfklub extends to just over 5,500 from the regular tees, playing to a par of 71, with holes arranged as two returning nines. Apart from the opening and closing holes on each nine, fairways are tree-lined and tight, which puts a very high premium on accuracy both off the tee and with the approach shot.
Highlight holes include short par fours at the 1st, 7th and 13th, along with the very short par three 14th which plays to a pear-shaped green protected to the front right by a small circular bunker. The 13th is another memorable hole, doglegging sharply right from tee to green, while the narrow 16th is a really testing par five, rated stroke index 4 on the card.
