- Address1918 Estr. de Hac Sa, Macao
Situated in Coloane Island, Macau Golf and Country Club was established in 1993 as one of the premier golf facilities in the region. The course offers fabulous views of the South China Sea from many of the holes on the back nine and the clubhouse is equipped with massage rooms, a sauna and steam room to sooth any aches or strains when your round is finished.
The 18-hole layout extends to 6,624 from the back markers, playing to a par of 71. Notable holes include the redesigned par three 6th (which now plays to an island green); punishing back-to-back par fives at the 12th and 13th (rated stroke index 2 and 4); and the short par four 16th, where the hole doglegs left to a long, two-tiered green.
The club first hosted the prestigious Macau Open tournament on the Asian Tour in 1998 and early winners were Englishmen Lee Westwood (1999) and Simon Dyson (2000). Scotsman Colin Montgomerie also lifted the winner’s trophy in 2003. In more recent times, India’s Bhullar Gaganjeet and Australia’s Scott Hend have each won the event a couple of times.
