Operated by the City of Mississauga, Lakeview Golf Course is a Herbert Strong design that’s been in operation since 1907. The course hosted only the third Canadian PGA Championship in 1914 (won by George Cumming) then two editions of the Canadian Open in 1923 (when Clarence Hackney was the winner) and 1934 (with Tommy Armour claiming his third and last title).
Set out as two returning nines, the course extends to 6,289 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 71. Water only ever comes into play at a few holes: ditches cross the fairway on the par four 8th and par five 16th, and a pond lies beyond the green on the par three 17th to catch over hit tee shots. Highlight holes include short par fours at the right doglegged 12th and left doglegged 15th.
Restoration work was carried out during the winter of 2021 to realign Applewood Creek and modify several holes. This involved rebuilding tees on the 1st, reconstructing bunkers on the 5th, reconfiguring the fairway plus expanding the green on the 16th, and relocating tees on the 18th. The aim of the work was two-fold: to improve the water course and enhance the playability of the golf course.
