Formed in 1951, Lakeside Country Club had a Ralph Plummer-designed 18-hole layout operating within its 209-acre site by the end of the following year. In 1990, Ron Prichard lengthened the course to 7,254 yards from the tips.
The golf course is just one of several sporting amenities available to members at Lakeside, as the club also offers 12 tennis courts (10 of which are floodlit), a resort pool and heated lap pool. The main clubhouse extends to a massive 90,000 square feet, with casual dining, formal dining, grill rooms and several private banquet rooms.
Standout holes include the 426-yard 5th and 585-yard 13th, which are rated the two most difficult on the card. Both nines return to the clubhouse, with the 9th and 18th greens located on a peninsula close to the clubhouse, requiring an approach shot over water to reach the green – there’s no bail out available here so it’s an all or nothing finish on these two holes.
