The Lakeside course at the BRG Kings Island Golf Resort opened in 1993 so, although it’s only a couple of decades old, it’s one of the oldest golfing layouts in a country that’s still very new to the game of golf. It was followed in 2004 by the Mountainview course, an altogether more visually stimulating and challenging track. The Kings course, a Jack Nicklaus II Signature layout, followed in 2018.
Located less than an hour’s drive to the west of Hanoi, this 55-hole golf resort lies on the shores of the Dong Mo reservoir (where all three courses are accessed by boat) and the majestic Ba Vi mountain range provides a stunning backdrop to the setting of the shimmering man-made lake.
The tree-lined fairways of the Mountainview course are set out on a gently rolling landscape, with floodlighting installed at a number of holes to allow for night time play. The quartet of par threes on the card provides a long and challenging test, especially at the first one-shotters (holes 4, 8 and 13), where the greens are heavily protected by sizeable water hazards.
