Islamabad (Old)
Islamabad, Islamabad Capital Territory- AddressP434+CM4, Muree Road, Islamabad Club, Islamabad, Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan
One of three clubs affiliated to the Pakistan Golf Federation through the Federal Golf Association, Islamabad Golf Club resides on the west bank of Rawal Lake, where its golf facility is just one of several sporting amenities (including squash, badminton and tennis courts plus indoor and outdoor pools) that are enjoyed by its members.
It’s an exclusive club, founded in 1967, drawing its membership from the business world, the diplomatic corps and other government circles. The club’s original 245-acre property was big enough to accommodate the construction of its 18-hole Old course but another 102-acre site was acquired in 2008 to build a polo field and the 9-hole New course.
Today, the Old course extends to 6,849 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 72. Notable holes include short par fours at the 1st and the 16th, with the par five 6th rated the toughest hole on the card. Back-to-back par fives at the 17th and 18th offer decent birdie opportunities and a real chance of ending a round at Islamabad on a high.
