Hunters Ridge Golf Course was created largely in correlation with a large residential development around the outskirts of the route, however players may actually wish for more homes while they play the final six holes at this public-access facility. If there were more homes, there would be less room for water during this tricky pass!
Most of this area would not allow for development, of course, being that it’s protected wetland. Around this portion, architect Bob Lohmann found room for two par threes and two short par fours, almost all of which are surrounded by water.
It doesn’t get much better on the two holes that sandwich this natural stretch. Both nos. 12 and 17 are par fives and rely on a pond for defense. No. 12 plays as a true Cape, offering a chance to reach the green in two for those who can move carefully along the pond’s edge.
No. 17, however, is more than 600 yards from the back tees. Water will play a role in all shots, from the carry across the creek off the tee, all the way to the pond that guards the left side of the hole during its final 300 yards.
