Holme Hall
Scunthorpe, England- AddressHolme Ln, Scunthorpe DN16 3RF, UK
Situated on the outskirts of Scunthorpe, the course at Holme Hall Golf Club occupies a 125-acre heathland tract that lies less than a mile to the south of the enormous Scunthorpe Steelworks. It’s hard to imagine a tree-lined golfing oasis like this could ever exist so close to such a large heavy industrial enterprise.
The course evolved from a 9-hole track in 1908 into eighteen holes in 1931, after Tom Williamson expanded the layout. It now measures 6,406 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 71, with holes configured in two returning 9-hole circuits.
The front nine starts and ends with eminently birdieable par fives and between those two holes, the only par three on the outward half is played at the 132-yard 4th, which plays over a small pond.
On the back nine, holes 14 to 18 are routed along the perimeter of the property, with out of bounds to the left on each of these fairways.
The club was honoured in 2019 to co-host the English Senior Men’s Stoke Play Championship with nearby Elsham Golf Club.
