Architect Johan Benestam recently renovated the 27-hole layout at Haga Golfklubb – where the Gul and Rød nines form the premier 18-hole course – and the main focus of the upgrade was improving the fairway drainage and bunkering.
Founded in 2001, the club is located on the northwest outskirts of Oslo, boasting three formidable loops of nine holes – namely Gul (3063-metre, par36), Rød (2,982-metre, par 35) and Blå (3097-metre, par 36) – which are all available for regular visitor play. In addition, the club operates a driving range (with 78 positions over two floors) and an extensive practice area.
Highlight holes on the Gul nine include the left doglegging short par four 2nd and both pond-protected par threes at the 4th and 6th. On the Rød nine, the 395-metre 5th is a tough hole with trees all the way down the left, while the only par five on this loop is encountered at the 528-metre 9th, where a meandering creek cuts across in front of the green.
