The 1923 Donald Ross-designed course at the Gulf Stream Golf Club is located on the Atlantic coast to the north of Delray Beach. In a Seminole style, the property has a central ridge that Ross once more utilised to good effect.

Pete Dye lives only a few minutes way from the first tee at Gulf Stream Golf Club and he’s been a member here for decades. Recently Mr. Dye was commissioned by the club to renovate the course. Works included improving drainage, new tee boxes and bunkers and re-contouring the greens, most of which Dye suggested were unplayable. “The greens were so tilted back-to-front that the ball would just roll off them,” Dye said.

Additionally, a line of Seagrape shrubs flanking the 18th fairway has been removed, opening up expansive ocean views.

Today’s renovated Gulf Stream Golf Club measures 7,100 yards from the tips (more than 300 yards longer than the previous layout), but forward tees measure a more leisurely 5,000 yards.
