Elmhurst Golf & Country Club was formed in 1914 and its course is one of a select few that Donald Ross is credited with designing on the north side of the International Boundary. Ninety years after the club's formation, Ron Prichard was commissioned to restore the course its original design intent.

Set out on a rolling landscape which was formed thousands of years ago by the Lake Agassiz Glacier, the sandy-soiled layout at Elmhurst is renowned as one of the best all-weather tracks in the province.

The 428-yard 7th is a real bear – the degree of difficulty on this hole is reflected in its stroke index rating of 1 – and it doglegs sharply to the right, with approach shots invariably played from an uneven, uphill lie.

The course can be stretched to 6,690 yards nowadays and it’s from the back markers that the Canadian Amateur Golf Championship was played when the club hosted the 110th edition of this prestigious old national championship as part of Elmhurst’s centenary celebrations in 2014. New Zealander James Beale won the event after a play-off.
