Situated to the southeast of the Disneyland Paris theme parks and hotels at Magny-le-Hongre, the Rouge and Bleu nines at Disneyland Paris form what’s generally regarded as the most challenging 18-hole course at the resort’s 27-hole golf complex.
In truth, though, there’s not much to separate the three nines as they occupy the same sort of relatively open terrain, with minimal rough to keep the pace of play flowing and an abundance of water and sand hazards to provide aesthetic stimulation and strategic challenge in equal measure.
The Rouge nine extends to 2,900 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 36, with holes configured as three par threes, three par fours and three par fives. The pick of the holes on this loop is the par five 9th, featuring a water-laden double green that’s shared with the White 9th.
The slightly longer Bleu nine measures 3,127 metres from the tips and also plays to a par of 36. The signature hole on this circuit is the 160-metre par three 6th, where a couple of boardwalks allow players to access a green that’s entirely surrounded by an enormous sand bunker.
The Peugeot Golf Guide describes the course as follows in this edited extract:
“Technically speaking, the course is not too complex as traps are immediately visible and wide open space is a give-away for long hitters. However, the twisting greens and a number of strategic difficulties also give the finer artistes a chance to hone their skills. The whole layout has a very American look to it with a good number of water hazards.”
