The Defence Housing Authority Karachi is a real estate and property development organisation run by the Pakistan army to cater for the housing needs of current and retired military personnel and their families.
One of the sporting amenities operated by the authority is the Country & Golf Club, located on a 140-acre coastal site that faces directly across to the Airmen Golf Course on the other side of Korangi Creek, at the point where it empties into the Arabian Sea.
Donald Steel advised on the site for the 18-hole course and it opened in two stages, the front nine debuting in April of 1997 and the back nine during August the year after, with an impressive clubhouse following in January 2001. Ted Parslow then upgraded the layout in 2004.
The course now extends to 7,120 yards, incorporating an automatic irrigation system and floodlights, which allows play to continue until late in the evening when required. A cart path has been recently installed and there’s a new driving range now in use.
