Laid out on the fringes of Okotoks, the course at D’Arcy Ranch Golf Club was established by oilman Jerry D’Arcy, former president of the Calgary Stampede, with holes laid out on the site of an old racetrack and quarter-horse operation.

Operating since the early 1990s, the layout measures just over 6,900 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 73, with fairways configured as two returning 9-hole circuits. Water comes into play at both the par threes on the front nine (the 3rd and 6th) and at the par five 7th, rated stroke index 1.

Highlight holes include the aquatically challenged 7th, along with another tough par five on the back nine at the right doglegging 13th, rated stroke index 2. The round then ends with a couple of adjacent par fours, played in opposite directions, with each of these holes veering slightly left from tee to green.
