Crowsnest Pass
Alberta, Canada- Address10701 24 Ave, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0, Canada
Reopened in 2019 after a significant Gary Browning overhaul, which included three new holes and five completely renovated ones, the course at Crowsnest Pass Golf Club can almost match the majesty of the incredible Rocky Mountains which flank the entirety of this rejuvenated layout.
Riversdale Resources, owner of the nearby coal mine, exchanged a portion of land for some of the more mundane holes on the original layout which were need to expand its operations, allowing the club to redevelop the course.
Highlight holes include the risk-reward 369-yard par four 11th; the thrilling par four 13th (rated stroke index 4) with Turtle Mountain as a backdrop; and the 547-yard 15th, where a centre line bunker splits the fairway on this long par five.
Architect Gary Browning was quoted as saying:
“What I’m probably most proud of is I think we were able to transform Crowsnest Pass into a destination golf course. It is such a beautiful setting and such a beautiful site. I wanted to give them something quite special – so you don’t just drive by and say ‘Hey, look, there’s a golf course over there.’ You actually go there on purpose.”
