Country Club at DC Ranch
Scottsdale, Arizona- Address9290 E Thompson Peak Pkwy, Scottsdale, AZ 85255, USA
The DC Ranch was operated as just that, a cattle ranch, for much of the 20th Century up until the ‘90s, when it eventually converted to the new popular land use in the Scottsdale area: as a country club and golf club.
The “D.C.” remains a point of conjecture. Some tips suggest it may be a reference to established rancher Dr. W.B. Crosby, or potentially to the nearby “Desert Camp” title the land once held. Regardless, what is certain is that players will find a superb golf course there now.
Designed by Tom Lehman and John Fought, DC Ranch winds through real estate development surrounding the club before winding its way up into the foothills of the McDowell Mountains. At the highest point along the route, players will be able to look down upon the entire course from the tee at the short par three of 128 yards (you’ll also be able to see just how far your ball has fallen if you come up short of the putting surface). Following that hole, you’ll dive back down toward the rest of the course from the teebox at No. 14, a 447-yard descent.
