La Ribera, Baja California Sur- AddressAv, Sta Maria de La Ribera, 23570 La Ribera, B.C.S., Mexico
The 18-hole layout at Costa Palmas Golf Club is part of a 1,000-acre resort community situated just outside the small town of La Ribera on the East Cape of Los Cabos, where the white sand beaches on the Sea of Cortez stretch all the way from Punta Pescadero to the new marina at San José del Cabo.
Developed by Irongate, a Los Angeles-based real estate company, the course has been described as “a golf symphony composed of three movements and two transitions,” with the opening six “dunescape” holes leading to six “upland” holes before the round finishes along the coastal coves and channels beside the marina.
“We were given a spectacular site and shaped a golf course that takes advantage of ocean views without being right on the water,” said architect Robert Trent Jones II. ”The contouring around the green complexes can either be forgiving or rejecting. It will take an imaginative short game to get the ball on the green.”
